Any advice for a family of four, looking to emmigrate to australia. kids are 4 and 6. not sure where to start.?

You need to start with determining if you qualify for a work visa. They're restricted to people with skills and experience in occupations in demand in Australia. If one of you has listed skills, that overcomes the major hurdle as you should be able to get some type of work visa. The best and most flexible is a Skilled 鈥?Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175). This provides immediate permanent residency without any limitations on where you work or who you work for. For it, you must pass a points test and score at least 120 points. Also available are regional and employer sponsored temporary and permanent visas which require either a lower points score, or no points test at all.

For all information, see:

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-s鈥?/a> (listed occupations and skills recognition)

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets鈥?/a> (everything including the points test, health and character requirements and how to apply).

Your next step depends on the type of visa you qualify for. If it's an independent visa, you simply (lol) need to apply then decide where in Oz you want to live. If you only qualify for some other type, then that decision will rest on other factors relating to the visa.

Other folks have given you some good websites. Also look for the website of Australia House (if you are in UK). Find out what visas etc are needed, whether your occupation is listed as one that we need.
