It's not ever a sure thing, but here's a bit of science.


Male sperms are much faster, but not as resilient as female sperms. So... if you go for it when you're most fertile in the month the chances of the male sperm getting there first and being able to get in is much higher. If you're not as fertile the male sperm might get there first, but because it's hard to enter the ovule he'll get worn out before the female sperm gets there and enters first.

Use an ovulation prediction kit. Abstain or use protection in the first half of your cycle. Once you get a positive reading, indicating that you will be ovulating soon, have sex once or twice in the next two days. Basically, sex on or right after ovulation favors boys and sex 3 to 4 days prior to ovulation favors girls. It's not 100%, but it shifts the odds in your favor.

I would look at the age the mother will be when she gives birth and the month the child would be conceived. And try to get pregnant in the month that predicts a boy would be the result.
