I need advice on planning a family vacation to the Beach....?

We are from Phoenix, and the first beach location that comes to mind is San Diego. I have never been there so I am not sure what to expect. I have priced out a few different options and I am getting discouraged. We want to stay in a hotel on the beach and still be able to afford to see the local attractions..any good suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would be open to chosing another location if need be. Thanks in advance ;)I need advice on planning a family vacation to the Beach....?
i cant rly help you on prices but there are some good beaches, now san diego is the kinda touristy beach so if your into the tourist scene go for it, its a very nice beach. some more beaches would be santa barbara, a little further north but fun and you get a very chill beach atmosphere. then you have santa cruz which i dont care at all for which is pretty far north and even in the summer months the water is freezing.

then to come back down and you have my local beach which is huntington beach. huntington might be your best bet, i say this because you have the extremly nice beach with nice chill people, but you also have attractions. about 20-30 mins is disneyland, you have affordable hotels, and if you wanna just jump on the free way you have shopping almost any where

hope this helps and have a fun time!!!I need advice on planning a family vacation to the Beach....?
this all depends on how much money you have to play with. i know hotels are very expensive, but gas/or flight are also a lot of money. theres many beaches, long island has a beach called long beach island (lbi) which is very nice with a beautiful boardwalk, and also jones beach, as well as jersey shore, in new jersey. thats why the computers are wonderful, because to go on google.com the search engine is nice, and if you look up hotels, beaches, and prices for everything things fit in order. do a little pricing go online search shopping, and fit it into a budget.
Depending on the time of year, you may be able to get very inexpensive travel packages for a family resort beach vacation in Mexico.
