Im Having Trouble With My Family. Any Advice?

I'm having a hard time with my family and I need to go to my 9th grade counselor. Tell me this, is this screwed up? My dad wouldn't let me do my homework because that was my punishment. My homework tonight is always an average of 6 hours a night. He always yells at me and says im worthless, dumb, stupid, retarded, and sometimes rarely hits me. I got in trouble because of my older sister. They always are the golden child. Do you think that's messed up? Should I go to my counselor? Im scared.Im Having Trouble With My Family. Any Advice?

YES, that is messed up. Go to your counselor.


This actually sounds like verbal abuse/neglect. Your dad is interfering in your education.


If he hits you and it bruises, tell your guidance counselor/school nurse/trusted adult. If you sue him, tape him yelling at you for evidence.


Sorry if that sounded really, really, mean and heartless, but I think that's what you should do. Suing him is optional, and probably a bit extreme.

No totally not screwed up I think you SHOULD go to the counselor! Look if you don't youll regret it! When I was like seven and stuff my parents would make me so mad i would cry almost every day! And what kinda punishment is that! Not doing your homework? If talking to him wont work, maybe try ignoring him and if that doesnt work i would suggest going to the couselor! They really can help! And also, maybe talk to your sister about it and be like what do i do or be like i cant belive you got me in trouble :( now will u help me? and see if that works

on the side 6 hours of homework?? really?? That's mental, I have never had more than an hour or 2 of homework and I wasn't even a great student and rarely got it all done in class. What kind of school do you go too?
Yes sweetie you should go see your counselor..at least you can explain why your homework wasn't done and you should talk about how things are for you at home. Someone needs to help you...hope things work out for you soon xxx
