There's a lot to do with children in New York.


Alice's Tea Cup is so much fun for babies -on the Upper West Side on 77th near Columbus - Central Park is just a few blocks away.

The Staten Island ferry is free. It's a beautiful ride on a nice day. You'll go past the Statue of Liberty and be able to take pictures of the kids with the Statue in the background; they'll appreciate the photos later. You also get a great view of the Manhattan skyline. You can go to the Staten Island Children's Museum once you reach Staten Island - at the ferry terminal, take the S40 bus to Snug Harbor Cultural Center. Be sure to see Portia's Playhouse - the kids can put on costumes and play with the props.

The Central Park Zoo and the Children's Zoo (65th Street) - there is a petting zoo and you can buy some kibble and the animals eat out of your hand. Staff members are in animal costumes. See Belvedere Castle and the Swedish Cottage(they have puppet shows) on 79th Street, Alice in Wonderland on 75th Street, the Carousel on 66th Street (rides are about $1), and, you should see Strawberry Fields, a John Lennon tribute. The Sony Wonderlab is free - it's on Madison and 56th Street

- when you are finished there (if you think they would enjoy this - 4 floors of interactive exhibits) you can take them to Dylan's Candy Bar on 60th and Third Avenue.





Times Square has a huge Toys 'R' Us with a giant ferris wheel. There is an M%26amp;M store, a Disney Store with various Disney characters wandering around.





The Donnell Library (great children's library - find out when they are having a story hour) on 53rd and Fifth (across the street from the Museum of Modern Art) is the home of Winnie-the-Pooh; the original stuffed teddy bear was a gift to the library.

If you are bringing strollers, use the buses whenever possible - try to keep your kids out of New York cabs - they scare me to death. We have a great public transportation system - the buses run frequently, they are safe and strollers are permitted. Your children might enjoy sitting near the window and seeing the City from the bus. You won't be able to use your car here - traffic is a nightmare and you will have to pay a fortune to park the car (if you are lucky enough to find a garage with an empty space). A car is a liability in Manhattan, not an asset.

EXPENSIVE-Parking will be your biggest problem, but not impossible.


CHEAP-The Museum of Natural History is great.


The entire day for-The statue of Liberty/Ellis Island is a lotof fun, and there are places to eat there too.


A play on Broadway like the ';Lion King'; would be fun-book ahead for that.


FREE-The Central Park Zoo is also real kid friendly with lots to do.
all i was going to say for the car rides with the kids they could play i spy.like they see a blue car ;they could say i spy a blue car,which one to see what ever 'cars 'trucks. signs stores and kids.kids love to color also...what am i telling you this for 'you have 3 kids and must know .......new=york is a nice city i hear and they must have lots of things to see there ;but dangerous also.don;t try to look like a tourist's it;s dangerous to do as;criminals look for these things.just act like your a new york native and blend in...good luck and have a beautiful time lol

Most people that come to New York City do not drive around.


Its just inconvenient, with traffic, parking, etc.


Just take the subway everywhere.


Its super convenient and will take you everywhere!


Try the Hall of Science Museum in Queens.


I loved that museum as a child and still do!


And of course, the Central Park zoo and also the Central Park children's zoo...love those!!!
The gem room in the museum of natural history (admission is pay what you please for the museum) the room is carpeted and the kids can touch some of the stones. go to the room with the whale hanging from the ceiling, nice dioramas of undersea life, this room has tables and chairs you can sit and still see where the kids are. After the museum you can go to either central park of there is a real good playground at 77 st. and columbus ave (short walk) buy a sandwich at a deli and go to central park and have a picnic lunch. almost forgot also try to go downtown to the staten island ferry for a nice boat ride.
