My son has turned against his Christian family...advice please.?

My son, Adam, is studying overseas in Japan. Yesterday I recieved an email from him that says he is taking judo. Why would a boy who was raised in a good Christian home turn against his own?My son has turned against his Christian family...advice please.?
Cool Judo is finally a religion, good to know?

I sincerely hope you're joking, because if you're not it says horrible things about your intelligence. My son has turned against his Christian family...advice please.?
so judo has made it as a religion!
Not all people are meant to be Christians. This doesnt mean your son is less close to God. People find God in different ways. If your son finds God in judo, (even if it is a martial arts form) learn to accept him. The important thing is not the name he calls God, but that he seeks for truth. He has to find truth on his own. We all have different paths. Do not judge your son for the path he is seeking out, love him. People can find God in many things, from yoga to judo, whatever works for him. Let him seek for himself and find his own path.
Actually, Judo is a religion in Japan. It was founded in the Eisho Temple, Tokyo.

Whatever you do, don't preach and browbeat him. Just continue to love him and pray for him. He's your son, talk to him as you normally would. It isn't man's job to turn the heart, but God's.
Judo is a style of martial arts, not a religion.Maybe he turned against you cause you're stupid?
Uh, judo is a martial art form. It's not a religion. Maybe you should learn a thing or two before asking really stupid questions. Good for your son for expanding his horizons, since he's clearly not learning about other cultures at home!
Because you think Judo is anti family.

Decide between a relationship with your son, or an undying belief in a god with no proof.

You only have 1 life, so choose wisely.

I thought Judo was like a martial arts? What would that have to do with him turning against his Christian faith? Did he say he has turned against it? Just needing clarification.

If Judo isn't what I think it is....then I think the best thing you can do for him is get him on a prayer list.
Did he actually say he was turning against Christ?

If so, the only thing (and the best thing) you can do is pray about it. He has the foundation, so it is out of your hands, and into Gods. Just let go.
When in Rome do as the Romans do.He will come back His heart will win.You taught Him well.
I hope you're joking.

Judo is a martial art.

And, even if he were to turn ';against'; your faith, let him. It's his choice to make. It's called 'enlightenment'.
lololol, Judo is a martial art you silly woman. ^_^

Don't worry, just because hes learning new ways to defend himself doesnt mean hes turning his back on Christ. I know a devout Reverand that practices Judo.
Judo is a martial art. It has nothing to do with religion. Any Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Atheist, or, well, anyone really can practice Judo. Don't worry about him ';turning against'; you.

That said, why are you worried about that? It is natural for young people to partake in a bit of spiritual exploration. Wouldn't you rather him believe in something because he thought it out for himself rather than just follow blindly like a lemming? I'm not bashing Christianity or any religion at all, what I mean is, it's his choice and just because he may question your beliefs doesn't mean he doesn't love you and is turning against you. Not that he seems to be doing all that much spiritual exploration anyway. He's just found a new hobby, that's all. Relax.
Are you really this stupid?

Judo is a form of martial arts moron!
He may only be taking it as exercise, he can still be christian. Did he specifically say ';I deny Christ and his teachings';?
Do you own a dictionary ???
I went through that stage, and so has everyone that I've ever talked to about this. It's something that happens alot. Just remember this, always support him and always talk to him about God. He is just probably trying to find his own path, as we all do in our lives. I will pray for him and your family so that you may find the strength through God to make it through. And one day, Adam will be back in church with you.
